How physical therapy helps even if you're not injured

Each month, Iron Physical Therapy highlights a special patient to tell their inspiring story. We want to honor the people who go all in - body, mind and spirit. They show us what’s possible - that you can move on from a setback to do amazing things...to challenge your body, to chase your dreams, to address pain in a healthy way to #getbetterbebetter.

When the woman who helps everyone else starts doing something for herself…her strength increases, her stability rises, and her smile gets bigger!

Meet Teresa, September’s Patient of the Month! As the Director of a busy preschool, this woman is on the move. With no time to rest, she fell last on her list, until she decided to do something about it so she can keep up with those 2-5 year olds.

If her story sounds a little too familiar, keep reading to see how she tackled that that daily pain.

-Dr. Marnie Wortman, PT DPT

In Teresa’s Own Words…

What Brought You Into Physical Therapy?

I came to physical therapy because I was feeling pain and a general lack of strength and stability. I saw the results my daughter Alyssa had after working with Dr. Wortman.

What advice do you have for others in pain?

I would encourage everyone to give Iron PT a try. They definitely work with each individual at the pace they need.

What has been you biggest motivation to #getbetterbebetter?

I just wanted to feel better and gain core strength to help me work "smarter and not harder” at my job.

Speaking of your job as preschool director, is there anything you learned from PT that you will be taking into the new school year?

This school year I hope to use the knowledge that Dr. Wortman gave me to be aware of how I move in my daily work.

What have you learned at PT that you didn’t know before?

I learned that I need to listen to what my body is telling me and be conscious of how I do things, so as to not create or aggravate injuries.

What are you most excited to get back to doing after PT?

After PT I hope to be a little more active with my family. I have already resumed taking motorcycle rides with my husband.
