Golfer and Shoulder Surgery (POM 2/14)

Phil is just good people! When he comes into therapy, it's like your friend just showed up at the party. He brings energy, commitment, and a sense of humor that is much needed during the last few hours of a long day. He is also an exceptional patient! He makes appointments a priority, asks for additional "homework" and gives 110% during each session. He raises the bar in every area, and we can't wait to see what's next!!

Three Words To Describe You: Ambitious, Driven, Outgoing

What brought you to PT?  After shoulder surgery, I researched and visited several local physical therapists. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Mayes. I was looking for a physical therapist who was an athlete, who was well schooled in the latest techniques and who would pay attention to detail. Nobody else around came close.

How have you benefitted from PT? After my surgery was complete, my Doctor told me it would be about six months until i was ready to play golf. By following Dr. Mayes prescribed homework assignments along with my regular visits, we are a month ahead of schedule.

What would you recommend to someone who has the same injury?

I have seen firsthand many people who have had to go in for multiple surgeries. The overwhelming reason is the lack of post surgery physical therapy. I would say push yourself to the limit.

What activities are you most excited about getting back to? Golfing and skiing. My goal this year is to get in better physical condition.
