How this 16-Year-Old Athlete Took Charge Of His Comeback
Each month, Iron Physical Therapy highlights a special patient to tell their inspiring story. We want to honor the people who go all in - body, mind and spirit. They show us what’s possible - that you can move on from a setback to do amazing things...to challenge your body, to chase your dreams, to address pain in a healthy way to #getbetterbebetter.

This young man has been through a lot - three surgeries in two years, including two ACL reconstructions…and he’s only 16. But this time around, Eli knew he wanted more from PT.
He asked to help his parents do research to find the right therapist and environment for him to succeed because he wanted to do everything right this time and to make sure he was stronger than ever before.
His WHOLE FAMILY was dedicated from day one to drive him to PT 30+ minutes away and cheer him on every step of the way…and Eli showed up with that same commitment.
Even on the darker days (ACL rehab is tough), he always came ready to work. Eli has truly grown and learned the patience it takes to make a serious comeback.

In Eli’s Own Words…
You’re named after Eli Manning, so we have to ask…Are you a big NY sports fan? And is there anyone you look up to when it comes to pushing through challenges?
Yes, I am named after Eli Manning and I’m a huge, huge NY sports fan. Specifically, Knicks and the NY Giants. A player I look up to is JK Dobbins (although he plays for another team). He has had soooo many injuries, but he still plays for the NFL. He is inspiring to me because I have had 3 knee surgeries.
You’ve had more injuries than most kids your age. What’s helped you stay focused and not give up?
What has helped me are my friends and family. The second time I got injured my puppy kept me company. She really helped me get through the pain.
This time around, you helped pick where to do PT. Why did you want to be part of that decision?
What sold me on Iron PT was the PEOPLE. Everyone was so nice and they were all athletes like me. They can relate to me.
When you finally found Iron, you and your family chose to drive over 30 minutes each way for PT! What made that feel worth it?
We actually drive 45 minutes lol with traffic. But I knew it was worth it because I was healing and getting better. My confidence is so much better this time around.
What’s something you’ve learned about yourself during this recovery?
I learned that I can get through hard things and that I have to put real work into my recovery as well. My starting weight was 137, and I now weigh 165. This is all the muscle I have gained working out to have stronger legs.
What are you most excited to do on the field, at school, or at home?
I’m most excited to get cleared and score my first touchdown this season. I can’t wait!!!
