Back From Injury Just in Time for College Football (POM 7/14)

Patient of the Month - July 2014

Meet Malik, a talented Defensive Back at American International College! It's been exciting to see how his focus and fierce determination have quickly brought him back from a hamstring injury just in time for the upcoming football season.

Malik was like a tornado of energy, agility and drive when he came in each day. The floor would actually shake as he attacked each and every exercise.

It was exciting to see a patient approach his rehab with such intensity, respect and purpose. Having him in the clinic was a great reminder of what can happen when we engage and turn up the dial in our own lives.

Best wishes for an amazing season, Malik!!

In his own words...

Three words to describe you: Determined, Intuitive, Steadfast

What brought you to PT?  My mother was referred by a coworker after I pulled my hamstring working out earlier this summer.

How have you benefited from your PT experience?  Physically I've healed completely from my injury and am in great shape and more than ready to return to school for the 2014 football season.

What would you recommend to someone who has the same injury as you?  I would recommend that they properly tend to the injury as soon as possible and not to let it linger to prevent in from happening again like I did.  When I mean properly tend I mean go to Iron PT ASAP !

What activities are you most excited about getting back too?  I'm really excited to start football camp in about a week.  Personal goals for me would be to stay healthy the whole season and to make an all-conference team this year.  The ultimate team goal would be to win the Division II Football National Championship.

Patient of the Month (Feb 2013) - Tendinitis

Patient of the Month - February 2013

We couldn't pick just one person for our February patient of the month! Roxanne and Cheryl are each so outstanding that we wanted to honor both of them.

Meet Roxanne Below! To learn about Cheryl's Journey,Click Here

Name:  Roxanne K.

Occupation:  Senior Academic Advisor—Caldwell College

Injury: Tendinitis of the Hamstring

I can't imagine someone not loving Roxanne. As a patient she is committed, driven, and responsive. As a person, she is kind, compassionate, and thoughtful. No matter what the circumstances, she stayed positive through her therapy and even took the time to share thoughts regarding our business. We already miss her!

In her own words....

What brought you to PT?

Tendinitis of the hamstring

How have you benefitted from your PT experience (physically or mentally)? I limped in and I walked out—it doesn’t get any better than that!

What would you recommend to someone who has the same injury as you? to get themselves over to Iron Physical Therapy

What activities are you most excited about getting back to? Just being able to move with greater comfort makes everything easier.

Any new goals now that you are feeling better? Get rid of those extra pounds.

Just to add a few words—it was Dr. Mayes credentials and experience that brought me to Iron PT.  After being told by my orthopedic  doctor that my next course of action should be PT, I started doing my research.  What I found was that though many places claimed to offer PT, not everyone was a Doctor of Physical Therapy and had all the necessary background.  I enjoyed my time at Iron PT, it was a positive friendly environment—a place of healing and learning.

And yes Doc, I am still doing my exercises!
